Almost to Kunming

We're in Tonghai about two days to go to Kunming. The last week was spent in Jianshui and Yuanyang. Jianshui is famous for the traditional architecture and Yuanyang is famous for old rice terraces built into the mountainside.

A very small market in the village we stayed in yesterday. Just the nearby farmers coming up to the top of this hill to sell their wares.

An old city gate in Jianshui. A woman nearby said it was 600 years old (no that's not an ancient megaphone).

We found a nice gravel road for biking leading back to the villages in the rice terraces. It's amazing people live out their whole lives farming terraces like these.

Everywhere I've been in China I'm astonished by the effecient use of land for farming. Farmers putting a variety of different crops on land that wouldn't even warrant a second look in Western countries.
